Next-Generation GMC Full Size Pickup Trucks Ahead of Schedule

In a recent blog written by General Motors’ writers, we learned that the next generation of full-size pickup trucks are ahead of time – apparently they have been pushed forward to the fall of 2018. The next-generation models will include the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon. They will be much like Ford’s aluminum bodied F-150 and will be built on a lightweight platform, known as T1XX. The new SUV’s will not hit the market until a few years after the 2015 F-150 will be released but the amazing thing is that some dealers have already begun accepting order this week.

OnStar Services on your GMC model

OnStar provides subscription-based communications, in-vehicle security, hands free calling, turn-by-turn navigation, and remote diagnostics systems throughout the U.S., Cananda and China. Now, OnStar is available with integrated Wi-Fi hotspot to provide a more powerful connection than a smartphone or mobile hotspot. As a matter in fact, any time your vehicle is on, your hotspot is available – the built-in OnStar Wi-Fi hotspot supports up to 7 mobile devices which allows your passengers to connect to the apps and info they want. GMC makes it easy for you to take your Wi-Fi with you; keep in touch with long distance family friends via email and social media or even stay productive with work, even when you’re away.

General Motor’s History with Experimental Military Vehicles

General Motors has used its boutique truck brand to create a variety of experimental vehicles for the military – the Sidewinder, for example, is considered to be one that has not been completely lost. The vehicle consists of a mid-mounted 215 cubic-inch V8 which was made in three separate segments. The front third housed the driver, the middle third was for the engine and the rear third was designed for the cargo box and rear axle. The FastLane blog commented, “The middle powertrain module…could theoretically be removed and replaced as a contained unit in the field.” Although this military vehicle never made it to production, the GM blog claims that it influenced the production of two newer prototypes. 2015 GMC Canyon – Maneuverable Pickup Truck

In a recent study done by GMC, they found that there has been a growing popularity in smaller pickup trucks due to the fact that customers want maneuverability when choosing a midsize pickup truck. Duncan Aldred, Vice President of GMC Sales and Marketing said, “An increasing number of customers don’t need the full capability of a full-size pickup, yet desire the functionality a pickup offers. These customers appreciate the smaller size of mid-sized pickups, with their ability to easily fit in a garage, travel downtown areas of big cities, and navigate crowded parking lots. The all-new 2015 GMC Canyon represents the best of both worlds in this sense.” GMC engineers took note of the customers’ wants and needs and engineered the truck to have a tight turning radius – making it easier to maneuver in tight places. Next GMC Sierra Denali Features New Magnetic Ride Control

The latest news in GMC technology surrounds the idea of Magnetic Ride Control – the GMC Sierra Denali will receive this new development in the 2015 model year. This new concept involves attaching sensors to the vehicle that can read the road 1,000 times per second that read and apply these notions to the truck settings in as little as five milliseconds. This information enables the truck to provide a comfortable ride. Although this technology may not be new to the automotive industry, it is new for GMC and for the pick-up truck segment. This technology was in fact licensed by Ferrari and has been modified for big haulers. Jeff Like, Executive Chief Engineer, commented, “With Magnetic Ride Control, the 2015 GMC Sierra Denali delivers a smoother, more confident driving experience without sacrificing the capabilities customers expect from a GMC truck. The responsiveness of the system makes this full-size truck feel and drive like a luxury vehicle – and on that’s more comfortable on long trips, especially when trailering.”
